Risk Assessment

A Risk Assessment is a comprehensive analysis of an organization to help it operate in as safe and effective manner as possible, while still being true to it’s visions, goals and mandates.

We bring professional outside perspective and industry leading expertise to your company, based on Risk Assessments we have conducted around Canada and the world… for military installations, government buildings, high profile court room cases, large recreational complexes, museums, visitor centres, arenas, marinas, municipal city halls, etc.

It is not a just a clinical review of a facility…but rather an insightful look at the effectiveness of everyday practices that can reduce liability and improve employee moral, productivity and overall efficiency.

Conducting a Risk Assessment meets a company’s obligations to safe workplace legislation under Bill 168… but more importantly provides a road map for the future, helping an organization meet current best practices, and provide direction for prioritizing, planning and budgeting for future projects.

Our Risk Assessments follow Provincial guidelines and are done in a two-pronged approach.

First, we examine the physical characteristics of a facility such as the need for partitions, barriers, cameras, motion sensors, security systems and other physical enhancements.

Next, we analyze the organization’s operating procedures and methods of their day-to-day activities, conduct management and employee interviews, and finally make recommendations.

The recommendations are in 3 categories; the majority that can be implemented instantly with no cost, some that require a little time and expense, and some that must be planned and budgeted for in the future.

We also develop a comprehensive lockdown protocol based on the unique characteristics of the facility. We liaise with the responding police agency to ensure the lock down protocol meshes completely with their response policies. We then conduct initial training sessions for the employees, and take them through lock down practice sessions.

Our experience is extensive and we have created and implemented lock down procedures across Canada and overseas for many different types of organizations and our consultants have responded to armed hostage taking in schools, and countless interventions to potential active shooters to schools and other types of facilities.
